Department of Early Modern History

Welcome to the site of the Department of Early Modern History. Early Modern History is broadly defined in terms of both time and geography. Research and teaching cover the entire period from the late 15th to the early 19th century. Geographically, the focus is on Western and Southern Europe, including their non-European interconnections. Processes of interaction and negotiation of norms are examined from an actor-centered perspective.
