Since 2023, Derya Bozat has been a research assistant and doctoral candidate at the Chair of Modern General and Eastern European History at the University of Bern. She studied History, Eastern European Studies, and Social Anthropology at the University of Bern, the Université de Fribourg, and Humboldt University in Berlin. Her research focuses on the history of Eastern Europe, particularly the Soviet Union, with interests in oral history, African educational migration, and East-South relations during the Cold War. Her dissertation examines the experiences of Sub-Saharan African students in the Soviet Union.
